8 Career Options That You Can Choose After You graduate

If such questions are striking you, you are not only the one. Every college student goes through this phase and when you will have to figure this out yourself, the below list presents some of the options that you may choose and could be a good starting point.
Then keep these basic rules in mind :–- Don’t think too much about money at the start of your career in life, even if your career goal is to earn lot of money eventually! In initial few years, your focus should be more on learning than earning money. Remember Amir Khan’s dialogue from 3 idiots movie “Baccha kabil bano, kabil … kamyabi to sali jhak maar ke peeche bhagegi”
- Choose a career that you think would make you happy in that. It is easy to said than doing. First figuring out what makes you happy. But what you can certainly do is not choosing a career that you know would make you unhappy. If you hate programming, don't sit for that software job or like that. If you are really an introvert who would rather be by himself or herself, don’t go for that marketing interview.
- Campus Placement:- If you do not want to study further or at least for few years and want to earn your own money and get a feel of the real world, then doing a job is a good option for your career. This will give you some direction to your career and you will get some more time to know what you want in your life, that too at the expense of someone else’s money. You can go for private or public sector jobs. Indian market is developing rapidly and there are many new opportunities available in the field.
- Do M.S. /M. Tech:- If you love technology, then you can go after your interests further by doing an M.S. from out of the country or M.Tech from the top Indian Institutes like IITs, IISc, NITs and many other universities in India. For M.S you can give Graduate Record Examinations and for M.Tech you can give Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.
- Go for an MBA:- If you thinking yourself working for an MNC company, managing people, resources and great deals for the company, leading a group of people as a project manager then doing MBA is a great choice for you. But again just do not do it because your friends want to do it or an MBA offers high scope of earning more salary. In Post Graduate Program, which almost all management colleges in India offer, you can specialize in your area of interests like HR, Marketing, and Sales etc in the field. In India, CAT (Common Admission Test) serves as a gateway for an MBA at the IIMs and many other leading and top institutes. There are some other popular colleges which have their own entrance exams like XAT (Xavier), NMAT, SNAP, CMAT, TISS, IRMA etc. For MBA from abroad you can write GMAT etc.
- Join Civil Services:- If you want to change the system in India, then go in the system and clean it. If you want to work for the nation and play an important role in building the country then you should join Civil Services. The UPSC (Union Public Services Commission) offers various options like civil services (IAS, IFS, IRS, IPS), engineering services, economic services, forest services etc in India.
- Join Defense Services:- If you get goose bumps every time when you see the men in uniform and want to live life on the edge and have the courage to sacrifice everything for India, then you should join the Indian Army, the Indian Navy or the Indian Air Force then you can serve for India. You can also join the technical staff by applying through the University Entry Scheme (UES), apply on their respective websites or you can appear for the AFCAT. Also, you can apply for flying positions in Indian Air Force by clearing Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT).
- Start your own company:- Entrepreneurship can be the best option to chase your dreams on your own terms. If you have a brilliant idea in your brain, are comfortable taking risks and have confidence in yourself, then go ahead and be your own boss by starting your own company.
- Social Service:- Every time you see small children serving you a chai or people dying of hunger or poverty, and then you feel the pain, malediction yourself for being helpless, then you can go and work for them. Maybe it wonot be that rewarding or offering a great salary, but the contentment you will get will be priceless for your life. Bring the change you want to see in the society and do your best.
- Explore the artist in you:- What else do you want from your life when your passion is your profession then.!! If dancing, writing, photography or doing theater this is your passion and did engineering under parents pressure; even now it is not too late for you. Get the professional training and chase your dreams in life. I bet you will see no other person happier and satisfied than yourself on this world.

The course for Higher education in Umshyrpi college are :-- BACHELOR OF ARTS (B. A.)
- BACHELOR OF COMMERCE (B. COM)
- Students who have passed plus 2 (10+2) in their respective stream or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board in India or abroad which is considered as equivalent by the University shall be eligible for admission into the First Semester of Honours Degree Course in Umshyrpi college.
- Students who have passed plus 2 (10+2) or an equivalent examination from any Stream from a recognized Board in India/Abroad have the option to change to Arts Stream and the students from the Science Stream have the option to change to Commerce Stream only.
- A student can apply to the Controller of Examinations through the Principal of his/her college duly endorsed by the Principal of the Center to which the change is being sought.
- A prescribed fee shall be deposited by NEHU Challan payable to North Eastern Hill University and the instrument of payment shall be attached to the application form.
- Change of Examination Center is not permitted to a Centre or College to which the affiliation of the Subjects or Course has not been given by the University.
DURATION OF THE HONOURS DEGREE LEVEL EXAMINATION :
i) The Honours Degree Course will comprise 6 (six) Semesters spread over 3(three) Academic Years.
ii) Semester means a half-yearly programme or term of studies in umshyrpi college.
iii) 1st (First), 3rd (Third) and 5th (Fifth) will be Odd Semesters.
iv) 2nd (Second), 4th (Fourth) and 6th (Sixth) will be Even Semesters.
