10/17/2016 What’s in a name? When things
are almost similar it makes sense to merge them as one and call them by the
popular name. Isn’t it?
If you had favored the Royal
Enfield Electra compared to its badge-mate Bullet 350, you are in for a
surprise. Yeah! Now there is no more Electra; only Bullet 350 as the company
has decided to call the Electra as the Bullet 350 (ES). However, don’t lose
heart as nothing besides the name has changed for the bike.
Listed as one of the trim
models of the Bullet 350, Electra adds to the color kitty of the Bullet, which
was only available in black. With Electra in its stable, the Bullet 350 (ES)
would be available in four color variants that include Silver (ES), Blue (ES)
and Maroon (ES).
The company’s decision to
rename the Electra seems justifiable as there was no need of a separate
category when all the features were similar between the two bikes except for a
few variations. Right from the badge of “Bullet 350” to the paint scheme and
the logo, both the bikes were similar in all aspects and that was the reason
why Royal Enfield chose to call Electra as the Bullet 350 (ES).
The Bullet 350 has already made its mark with its 350cc single
cylinder engine and a thumping motor that produces a power of 20PS delivering a
torque of 28Nm at about 4,000 rpm. As far as the price goes, the Bullet comes
at a around Rs. 1.12Lakh while the Electra now under the Bullet 350 (ES) regime
has been priced at Rs. 1.25Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
