Established January 1906

Cosmos Co-operative Bank Ltd. was established in Pune on 18 January 1906 under the Co-operative Credit Societies Act, 1904. It originated as a cooperative banking institution rather than as a privately founded commercial bank. Over the following decades, it expanded its banking operations, came under the Banking Regulation Act framework in 1980, entered the Second Schedule of the RBI Act in 1990, and became a multi-state cooperative institution in 1997. Through branch expansion, technological modernization and mergers with other cooperative banks, Cosmos developed into a large multi-state scheduled cooperative bank. By 2026, it had 193 branches across seven states and a business size of about ₹44,000 crore
