Visiting an Ayurvedic doctor for the first time can feel unfamiliar. Here is a simple guide to what usually happens.

The doctor starts by asking about your main concern, health history, daily routine, food habits and sleep. Many Ayurvedic doctors also check the pulse (Nadi Pariksha), look at the tongue and ask about digestion. These are used alongside your history and any medical reports, not instead of them.

You are then told what the doctor has understood, and a plan is shared. The plan is personalised, so two people with the same complaint may receive different advice. It may include medicines, diet, daily routine and therapies, along with a follow-up date.

Bring past reports and a list of your current medicines and supplements. Ask about the plan, the timeline and the costs. Results vary from person to person.
