Headaches are pains in the head or face that are frequently characterised as throbbing, continuous, severe, or dull pressure. The kind, intensity, location, and frequency of headaches can all vary substantially. Most people will suffer from headaches at some point or another throughout their lives. They are the most prevalent type of pain and a significant factor in days missed from work or school as well as visits to healthcare professionals. 

Types of Headaches:

Primary headaches
Dysfunction or over-activity of pain-sensitive features in your head cause primary headaches. They’re not a symptom of or caused by an underlying medical condition. Some people may have genes that make them more likely to develop primary headaches.
Types of primary headaches include:

• Tension-type headaches.
• Migraine headaches.
• Cluster headaches.
• New daily persistent headaches (NDPH).

Some primary headaches can be triggered by lifestyle factors or situations, including:

• Red wine.
• Nicotine consumption.
• Poor posture
• Changes in sleep or lack of sleep.
• Coughing, sneezing, blowing your nose, straining

Secondary headaches

Types of secondary headaches that aren’t necessarily dangerous and resolve once the underlying condition is treated include:

• Dehydration headache.
• Sinus headaches.
• Medication overuse headaches.

Pain that develops in the neck and a person feels up into their head is called Cervicogenic Headache. the headaches with migraine and tension headaches, both of which can cause neck pain but these are different. 

Cervicogenic headaches are secondary headaches. Secondary headaches result from an underlying condition, such as neck injuries, infections, or severe high blood pressure. This sets them apart from primary headaches, such as migraine and cluster headaches.

People with Cervicogenic headaches experience a headache accompanied by neck pain and stiffness. Certain neck movements can provoke cervicogenic headaches.
