BimaPay, a leading FinSureTech company under the Mufin Group umbrella, secured a total of USD 2 million, led by LC Nueva Investment Partners through LC Nueva AIF, a joint venture between Lighthouse Canton and Nueva Capital. This funding round is a significant milestone for BimaPay as they continue to revolutionise the insurance sector through financial inclusion and cutting-edge technology. 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐰 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐐 Burgeon Law acted as legal counsel to Venture Highway on its investment in CheQ, a Bengaluru-based B2C credit management platform. The funding round saw CheQ raise Rs 35 crore ($4.2 million) from new and existing investors, taking the total funds raised by the company to $15 million. The fresh capital will be used by CheQ for growth, expansion, marketing, and other general corporate purposes. CheQ's platform simplifies credit product discovery and management, allowing users to pay credit card bills and EMIs on a single platform. 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐒𝐌𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 The Delhi High Court has clarified the proper recourse for companies facing arbitration under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Act (MSMED Act) should challenge it through specific provisions of the MSMED Act or the Arbitration Act, not by appealing to the High Court's general authority. This applies even if the company believes the arbitration itself lacks jurisdiction. The case involved a pre-registered MSME seeking payment on a contract signed before registration. The opposing party argued this disqualified the MSME from MSMED Act benefits. The High Court pointed out the company could have challenged the arbitration process under the relevant Act but didn't. The Court emphasised that alternative dispute resolution procedures outlined in the Acts should be followed instead of directly appealing to the High Court.
