At Equilibrio Advisory LLP, our Vision & Mission is to provide legal remedies & psychological interventions for building Equitable & Safe Spaces. We Envision a Society : - Where diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, safety, security and respect imbibe and form the base of any work or living environment. - Where admissions, grades, selections, recruitments, retention, promotions, and life is not negatively impacted due to bullying, discrimination, bias or harassment of any kind. - Where physical, mental and emotional well-being of all is recognized, irrespective of their age, gender, sexuality, race, caste etc. - Where laws are adhered to in letter and spirit & laws, processes & policies are amended from time to time based on needs of the society. We are a team of qualified professionals such as Legal experts (who have diversified knowledge and practical experience in the legal field), Psychological experts (who have thorough experience of counselling as well as working with women and children on the field) and Social Workers. Working with various organisations varying from education to finance to media organisations, our entire team has first-hand experience of dealing with matters relating to abuse, sexual or otherwise. Because of our combined expertise, we are also in a position to guide, not just the employer but also employees and managers at all levels. We are also able to have effective age appropriate conversations with children to create awareness about such topics. This, along with our expertise on providing training / awareness sessions at all levels for handling, prevention, prohibition and redressal allows us to achieve our ultimate goal of building Equitable & Safe Spaces. This makes us a unique combination of a full service legal and counselling organisation, which proves us to be a valuable asset for any organization.

    Today is World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2024, and this year the theme being spotlighted is "Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld". We at Equilibrio Advisory are spotlighting a clip from the award-winning film Period. End of Sentence., a film that documents how the women of Hapur in rural India take charge of changing perceptions and realities around menstruation in their lives and communities. Here, we witness what challenges emerge for menstruating persons, and their impact could look like. Some of the challenges faced by menstruating persons include lack of access to hygiene products as well as clean and secure spaces to for menstruating persons to change or attend to their needs, lack of awareness, physical changes to the body, the experience of pain, presence of stigma and shame associated with menstruation, etc. These challenges can impede women’s growth, and contribute to dropouts in schools and even the workforce. Today we must ask ourselves, in our own context, are we working to create a period friendly world? Do the menstruating persons in our workplaces and communities still face such challenges?   • This week, we're excited to bring you interesting content across various sections. In our legal updates, we delve into the Prajwal Revanna controversy, which highlights privacy violations and judicial gag orders against the media. This case raises significant concerns about privacy, media freedom, and judicial intervention, emphasizing the need for balanced enforcement of privacy laws and media regulations. Additionally, the Supreme Court permitted disabled candidates to attend interviews for Madhya Pradesh Judicial Services if they meet the SC/ST minimum marks criteria. This ruling underscore the need for inclusivity and fair treatment in judicial appointments. Another significant ruling saw the Supreme Court rejecting a 20-year-old woman's plea to terminate her 30-week pregnancy, emphasizing the fetus's right to life despite the Petitioner’s mental and physical health concerns.   In our intersectionality section, we provide an overview of the #MaternityBenefits Act, 1961, and its 2017 amendment, which ensures women's rights during and after childbirth. Employers must comply with provisions like 26 weeks of paid leave and crèche facilities to support a gender-inclusive workplace.   Our "Did You Know?" segment explores how AI can help organizations identify biases but may also perpetuate them if not carefully designed. Integrating diversity and inclusion principles into AI development is crucial for equitable outcomes.   For our Curious Cat question, we explore the difference between equitable and inclusive policies. Equitable policies ensure fairness and access to opportunities for all, while inclusive policies create environments where everyone feels valued. Her outstanding accomplishment is a testament to her courage, perseverance, and unyielding spirit in overcoming trauma and succeeding.     On this International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, we celebrate the progress in protecting LGBTQIA+ rights and acknowledge the ongoing struggles. This year's theme, "No one left behind: Equality, freedom and justice for all," highlights the necessity of inclusive policies and protections to ensure #LGBTQIA+ individuals have equal rights and access to healthcare. Recent advancements include the legalization of marriage equality in 11 countries and the decriminalization of LGBTQIA+ relationships in 13 countries. Despite these strides, discrimination and stigma persist, leading to severe health disparities and social inequities. Many countries still criminalize same-sex relationships, and some even impose the death penalty for LGBTQIA+ identities. During humanitarian crises, these inequities worsen, making it crucial to integrate LGBTQIA+ rights into global humanitarian and climate-resilience policies.     India's trans community is at the receiving end of constant violence. Numerous reports of lynchings, or sexual assault are still quite common. If not direct violence, their lives are often disappeared behind stigma or negative stereotypes. When it comes to trans persons, cases of discrimination often go unreported, as was shown in Ravi Jadhav's "Taali", featuring @sushmitasen47 Set against this backdrop, the life-affirming story of Gazal Dhaliwal assumes a poignant significance. A screenwriter and director, Dhaliwal is a proud trans woman, who has reclaimed her own narrative. Often lack of awareness around trans identities leads to negative bias towards trans communities. It is important we allow trans persons to come forward and share their stories, so that we can connect to the humanity within them. Because, stories like Dhaliwal's are still quite rare.
