    Let’s understand one thing - One Size Does Not Fit All. Gone are the days where bulky resumes worked. Today, it’s all about specificity and impact.  (Check the resume templates you can use👇) How can you make yours better? Achievements:  ↳ What are the projects you are most proud of?  ↳ Highlight them at the beginning. Customization:  ↳ Make your resume personal for each job application.  ↳ Having a clunky resume with a bland approach does not suffice. Power Words:  ↳ Instead of ‘Responsible for’ try ‘led’, ‘achieved’, ‘implemented’, ‘spearheaded’.  ↳ Instead of ‘improved’ try ‘amplified’, ‘strengthened’, ‘attained’, etc.  ↳ Don’t overdo them as they will lose their essence. Quantify: ↳ Put specific numbers to quantify your success.  ↳ Numbers speak louder than words. Concise:  ↳ Keep your resume focused for impact.  ↳ Every bullet point must deliver a specific message.  ↳ Self-rate your key skills to highlight your hands-on experience. Relevance:  ↳ Every skill matters, but add only the one that matters for the job.  ↳ You must prioritize the skills as per the job application. Formatting:  ↳ First impressions are the real-deal.  ↳ Keep your resume clean and professional.  ↳ Simplicity and readability are key elements. Summary:  ↳ Strong summaries create a better impact.  ↳ What do you bring to the table must be immediately visible.  ↳ It’s your introduction, so make it count. Proofread:  ↳ Don’t leave any room for error.  ↳ Proofread and edit your resume before sending it out.  ↳ Typos and poorly framed sentences are a put off. These are the best ways to create an impact in your resume.  Don’t ignore this because it makes a difference in the way people perceive you.     Are we doing our due diligence in keeping our environment clean? We all complain about the weather, climate change, sanitation, hygiene, and everything around us. But are we doing anything to curb all that? I see so many people pitching garbage out of their car window because why not! Our roads are to throw things, right? We don't bat an eyelid when spilling water or wasting it, despite knowing the heat wave and water crisis we have experienced in the recent past. We all like to think it is someone else's problem, but I don't think it is. It is OUR collective problem. We don't need to change everything at once. All we need to do is - take one step at a time. 1. Educate ourselves and those around us about proper disposal methods. 2. Don't throw garbage on the road; instead keep a bag in your car. 3. Segregate your waste into wet and dry for proper disposal. 4. Reuse the water from your RO to water the plants or mop. 5. Dry your clothes outside instead of using the dryer. 6. Maintain your AC at 24 degrees for uniform airflow. 7. Open your windows when the weather is cool. 8. Reuse boxes for storage instead of throwing them. 9. Carpool to save fuel and reduce cars on the road. 10. Don't leave taps open to avoid water wastage. These may seem small, but if we do it collectively, the effect will compound. Saving our environment and reducing pollution is not a one-time activity. It is an on-going one. Think about it - While COVID destroyed many lives, it also cleaned up the air around us because of no traffic. For the first time we could see clear skies and buildings far beyond the one in front of us. Not that I ever wish it came back, but small steps can help us battle this.     EV Space is buzzing with the on-going demand for cars But there is a serious lack of skills. EV sales in India are expected to surge by 66% year-on-year in 2024. Talent demand is surging in the EV sector driving new roles and contract hiring, as per a report by The Economic Times. While there is a need for technical skills but with indigenous manufacturing on the rise, the space has given rise to leadership roles as well. The biggest areas where you can see a visible hiring demand is - EV Hardware, EV Software, Design Manufacturing and Production. As per the Indian Staffing Federation, the increase in demand for fuel-efficient vehicles, government initiatives promoting EV adoption and rising environmental concerns has given rise to this significant growth. If you belong to the manufacturing and automobile industry, keep a lookout for roles in - ✓ Vehicle Diagnosis & Integration  ✓ Cell Modeling ✓ Electric Motor Design  ✓ Complex Control System  ✓ Hybrid Vehicle Design  ✓ Supply Chain Management  ✓ Battery Technology  ✓ Electric Powertrain Systems It is a great opportunity for students to board the EV train and undertake specific EV industry-centric courses offered by vocational colleges. Few places where you can find these courses include - IIT Roorkee, VNIT, NITK Surathkal, Automotive Skills Development Council, Udemy, etc. The future for Electric Vehicles is definitely on the rise and if you want to upskill specifically, I advise you to niche down in specific areas of the EV industry. Whether it’s contractual roles in the EV industry or full-time opportunities, having in-depth knowledge and technical skill will help you in the long run.     There is a hiring surge for Chief AI Officers amid exceptional tech frenzy. If you notice, the application of AI has seen a rising demand in several industries in the past 3 years. While every industry is trying to incorporate the use of AI in their daily operations from HR to Manufacturing to Engineering to possibly Hiring; it still remains a wild cat in the vast ocean of opportunities.     Mental Health has always been the talk of the town, but how many of us truly believe in it? How many of us pay attention to the finer details about spotting mental health issues - in us and others? We don’t realize it until it hits us hard and takes a toll on us. Today, the market is quite volatile where the quarterly projections of the hiring status quo is changing quite dynamically. I feel a pinch when I think about the mental well-being of job-seekers - those who have been in the market for a while but aren’t getting the opportunities they seek. I have people around me who are going through the same turmoil and it does hurt. While no words can be enough, instead of worrying about it, what can you do? - Upskill yourself with a complementary skill. - Avoid doom scrolling and invest your time attending workshops and training. - Build your profile on LinkedIn and share your thoughts about your industry. - Practice self-care by introducing a routine of physical activity and breathing exercises. - Don’t go into your shell and dwell over things, instead start by taking small steps to make yourself better. These are not your typical mental health tips but sets the tone for you to make a difference. Remember: It’s not easy surviving a loss of job, but I would rather urge you to take it as an opportunity to build something new and different. Don’t give it up. This Mental Health Awareness Month, I urge other leaders to be kind to the people who have lost their jobs and be as helpful as you can in finding opportunities that can benefit them.     Hiring is one of the toughest jobs to do. It’s not about just filling the positions.  It’s about managing expectations. Managing expectations of hiring managers, job descriptions, internal and corporate recruiters, and setting a benchmark for talent every step of the way. At V3 Staffing Solutions India P Limited, we hire for a variety of junior, mid-managerial, and senior executives. Each position comes with its set of challenges and that’s where our team comes to the forefront of rescue. We do not consider the positions only at face value, but dive deeper to understand how we can help close them faster. I know a good TAT is essential for a position and the credibility of the vendor fulfilling it. At the outset it may seem easy, but when we look inside, some positions do take longer to fulfill. The reasons could be anything.  - Niche hiring skills  - Getting quick joiners - Lack of quality profiles  - Getting quick feedback - Headhunting the right ones - Interview process - Compensation  - Quick TAT  - And more Each step of the way one thing has worked for us constantly.  - Having a clear idea about the JD  - Having a good rapport with the recruiters  - Having clear and documented communication for delays  - Making sure we pick up the phone and convey the message  - Being on top of our sourcing and interviewing  - Understanding alternate skill availability  - Keeping the recruiters in the loop These steps have allowed us to close several positions well before the expected timeline. Like in life, recruitment is a game of chess at times. We may win or lose a few profiles But at the end of the day  It is proper coordination That makes a difference What has been your experience with closures?     The India Staffing and Recruitment Market is projected to reach US$ 48.53 billion by 2030. Now that’s a huge number if you ask me. It was valued at US$ 18.06 billion in 2022. Workforce localization is taking the Indian recruitment space by storm. It is definitely increasing employability and reducing the country’s dependency on expat labor. Make in India initiatives have set the ball rolling for more GCCs and international companies to set up their manufacturing, R&D, Design, Software Development, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement base in India. This is a beacon of delight for every recruitment firm, partner, vendor and agency in the country. In August 2023, ~60k jobs were estimated to be created in the next ~12 months to meet the demands of leading mobile handset makers in the country. Now I know layoffs have been playing havoc on everyone's mind and it has not been easy to navigate them. Did you know, interestingly Hyderabad was the top recruiter for IT-professionals among all metros in India? We hired 23% IT professionals followed by Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, and Chennai. What does it mean for all recruitment agencies? (including mine) - We have to double down on sourcing candidates and go beyond traditional methods.  - We cannot rely on one source of hiring but must spread our expertise across.  - We are the extended arm for companies and we must act like one.  - There were ~23k agencies in 2018, the number has increased.  - We must push for skill-centric hiring over only degrees.  - The lull period is going to smoothen out soon.  - Pick up on Automation more than ever.  - Data is your only weapon today.  - High customer-centricity. But yes as an agency, I know my limitations and I am sure you do too. These are projected numbers, but the ground reality lies in working together with companies to fulfil requirements. We are working on building a diverse workforce in 2024. But it has to be an equal effort from both sides. Get your area of expertise in place and become a reliable and desirable agency partner for your company.
