Presenting the Highlights from Day 2 of Climate Asia’s Annual Climate Conference!
We engaged in thoughtful conversations surrounding themes such as empowering the green workforce, scaling up climate-smart agriculture in India, and climate-resilient ecosystems.
🌿The day began with Prof. T. V. Ramachandra (Indian Institute of Science (IISc)) on “Insights from the unplanned rapid urbanization in Bengaluru for designing climate resilient cities.” He emphasized the landscape transition from forests and water bodies to urban areas, stressing the necessity of water in Bengaluru for health.
🌿Our first panel on “Empowering the Green Workforce: Cultivating Sustainable Skills for Impact” was co-hosted by our Anchor Partner EY GDS, and highlighted the vast potential within the green jobs sector, emphasizing that virtually any business can contribute to this space. Core technical skills, such as engineering and manufacturing, are fundamental across numerous professions and need further development. Additionally, transferable green skills are essential across all green jobs. To pave the way for a carbon-free future, transformational skills that innovate and develop new solutions are crucial.
🌿During the second panel discussion on "Scaling Up Climate-Smart Agriculture in India: Opportunities for Entrepreneurs across the Value Chain," was co-hosted by our Anchor Partner NSRCEL-IIMB. It emphasized the urgent need to understand the evolution of agriculture through the years and to accurately identify the challenges that demand solutions. All too often, we address the wrong issues at inappropriate times. We are what we eat, so it's time we all take action.
🌿The third panel “Harmony in Sustainability: Regenerative Agriculture, Sustainable Supply Chains, and Climate-Resilient Ecosystems” was co-hosted by our Knowledge Partner Beetle Regen solutions. It emphasized the critical role of the Azola event in cooling our planet through carbon reduction. Regenerative agriculture plays a key role in comprehending the carbon connection. But, the natural symbiotic relationship between soil and plants has been disrupted. However, innovative land management practices that prioritize soil health provide a promising path forward.
🌿The latter part of the day featured workshops covering a range of topics. These included “Green Horizons: Unlocking Talent and Skilling for Climate Futures” co-facilitated by Arthan and EY GDS, “Utilizing Digital Tools for Climate-Resilient Agriculture” facilitated by ProClime & NSRCEL-IIMB, “Challenging the Green Ceiling: How Can Women Leverage Power for Career Growth” facilitated by EquiLead and Anita Ratnam and “Tools for Enhancing NGO Capacity in Climate Adaptation Programs” facilitated by Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy.
Stay tuned for more highlights coming your way!
