The Evolution of Customization in Carpets – Then vs. Now When we first started offering customised carpets, it often felt like we were speaking a language people weren’t familiar with yet. Back then, the very idea of “customisation” in carpets brought along raised eyebrows and a fair bit of hesitation. People were unsure—unsure of how the final piece would look, and whether what they’d imagined would actually translate into reality. It was a new concept, and with anything new comes a fair share of doubt. Another challenge? Timing. Carpets were often a last-minute purchase—picked up just a day before an event or moved into a new home. So when we told them a bespoke carpet could take up to 8 weeks, it wasn’t always easy to convince them to wait. And that’s completely understandable—there was no reference point then for something so personal and involved. But over the years, I’ve watched this change beautifully. Today, people come to us looking for customisation. They want something that reflects them—their story, their space, their style. They don’t just want to buy a carpet; they want to create one. Whether it’s a designer with a specific moodboard or a homeowner with a vision, the process has become a collaboration. Clients are now deeply involved from the very beginning. They care about the process, the textures, the material, the weave. They ask the right questions, they want to understand the craftsmanship behind every knot and every pattern. It’s no longer just a purchase—it’s an experience. And most importantly, they say it proudly: "This carpet was custom-made for my space." The shift is not just in carpets—but in the larger narrative of interiors. People now see rugs as an integral part of their space, not an afterthought. They’re investing their time and energy to make sure each piece feels personal. And that, to me, is the most exciting part of this journey. Customisation in carpets is no longer a surprise—it’s a choice. A conscious, creative one.
