👉Farmers face a critical problem while trying to maximize crop yield: lack of availability of the right technology. Through the right tech, not only can farmers protect their crops from threats, but also improve the quality and quantity of crop output. Here are the gaps in the Indian agricultural sector that need to be addressed: 𝟏) 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 If seeds are genetically engineered, they will be able to resist pests, hence reducing the need for traditional pesticides, saving costs, and ensuring higher crop yields. 𝟐) 𝐋𝐨𝐰 𝐀𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐎𝐟 𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 Due to the high costs of machinery, farmers are unable to use mechanised equipment that can help increase crop production. The small size of Indian farms makes it difficult for farmers to opt for community ownership, leading to higher costs. 𝟑) 𝐋𝐨𝐰 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐟 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 In agriculture, drones can help analyze soil quality in fields, manage irrigation, monitor livestock, and monitor overall crop health. As promising as they seem, the high costs of drones deter farmers from using them. To address the gaps in the Indian tech sector, it is critical to: ✅ Create awareness among farmers about the “agristack”, the unified database which the government is creating for farmers. The database will link farmers and help AgraTech firms offer personalized solutions to farm owners. ✅ Develop user-friendly tech devices in multiple regional languages to make it easy for farmers to understand. ✅ Launch government initiatives and NGO-driven programs to provide training to farmers using smartphones. It’s onwards and upwards for farmers from here! #agriculture #farmers #farming #crops

Beware of the deadly impact of crop viruses! Wondering how damaging they can be? So, what are crop viruses? Crop viruses are infectious particles that require a host to spread. They can be transmitted through insects and animals like beetles. 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: Crop viruses can cause significant yield losses, reduced fruit quality, and even complete crop failure. They can also make plants more susceptible to other diseases and pests. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: Crop viruses can be spread in several ways, including by insects (such as aphids, thrips, and whiteflies), through mechanical transmission (such as on tools or clothing), in seeds, and pollen. 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬: Some of the most common crop viruses include: Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) Maize streak virus (MSV) Papaya ringspot virus (PRSV) Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) Symptoms: 🔴 Leaf distortion 🔴 Spots or streaks on stems 🔴 Mosaic patterns 🔴 Ring spots Prevention: ✅ Use tree covers to modify the climate surrounding crop fields, which can create conditions that do not allow viruses to spread easily. ✅ Practice good sanitation techniques by cleaning tools or equipment to prevent contaminated surfaces from coming into contact with viruses. ✅ Implement crop rotation techniques. Growing alternate crops from those usually grown in a specific area can reduce pathogens in the soil, preventing the spread of viruses. ✅ Keep monitoring crops for any unusual changes and react swiftly if you notice anything unusual. The quicker you act, the safer your crops can be! Through smart virus detection and control, we can give our crops the care they deserve. Let’s keep viruses away! #crops #agriculture #cropvirus #farmers

👉 According to the Indian Meteorological Department, India is expected to experience higher-than-average heatwave days between April and June in 2024. For farmers, the heatwave poses a looming threat, impacting their peace of mind. They are concerned about: 🔴 Reduced crop yields 🔴 Soil degradation 🔴 Increased pest infestation in crops We aim to reassure farmers during this challenging period. At Growit India, we are dedicated to offering protective farming products that can help crops withstand extreme weather conditions. ✅ Crop covers, when applied over crops, shield them from extreme heat, thus preventing soil degradation and mitigating the adverse effects on crop yields. ✅ Mulch films serve as a protective barrier between the soil surface and the sun's rays, conserving soil moisture. Adequate soil moisture promotes plant growth and prevents soil erosion. ✅ Weed mats minimize evaporation and retain soil moisture, ensuring crops receive sufficient water, even during extreme temperatures. Additionally, they suppress weed growth, which competes with crops for soil moisture, thereby preserving crop health. By implementing protective farming techniques, we can safeguard the well-being of our crops during the summer season, collectively. Here's to empowering farmers to thrive! #farming #farmers #agriculture #heatwave

👉 86.1% of Indian farmers are small or marginal farmers, owning less than 2 hectares of land. While owning small plots may seem costlier than larger ones due to lower output per unit of land, it's actually a strength rather than a weakness. Let me explain HOW: 𝟏/ 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 Though owning small land may seem costlier due to lower output, small farm owners can reduce costs by substituting harmful chemicals with products like mulch films and crop covers. These products enhance soil fertility, thereby improving crop quality and yield. 𝟐/ 𝐏𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 Protective farming techniques eliminate the need for insecticides. Products like weed covers block sunlight from reaching crops, deterring pests by preventing the growth of weeds that rely on photosynthesis. 𝟑/ 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Utilizing crop rotation techniques diversifies soil structure, allowing for more efficient land use. __________ At Growit India, our mission is to empower farmers through protective farming products and techniques. While we've positively impacted over 2 lakh farmers, awareness of such innovative methods remains limited. We've made significant progress, but our journey is far from over. Let's continue to revolutionize protective farming for farmers across the nation! 🌱

Winds can make or break crop production. While they can prevent dew collection and fungal diseases in plants, turbulent winds are a serious problem. There are mainly two kinds of negative impacts: 𝟏. 𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: •Hot winds increase transpiration, especially cuticular transpiration, more than stomatal transpiration. •Hot winds accelerate the drying of plants by replacing humid air with dry air in the intercellular spaces. •Wind increases turbulence in the atmosphere and the availability of CO2, thereby increasing photosynthesis. Beyond a certain wind speed, the rate of photosynthesis becomes constant. 𝟐. 𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬: •Strong wind damages the shoots. •Lodging: Lodging in plants refers to the permanent bending or falling over of the stems (or sometimes roots) from their upright position. •Flower and fruit shedding. •Causes soil erosion. •Soil deposition causes poor aeration in the root zone. To combat this issue, there is a solution: protective farming. Let’s break down how techniques employed through protective farming can protect your crops: 🟢 Windbreaks create barriers around crops, reducing wind speed. They can protect against the drifting of soil, which kills soil structure and leads to loss of fertility. 🟢 Mulch film is a plastic film that covers the soil. By raising soil moisture and moderating soil temperature, it prevents soil erosion, provided it is applied at a high rate compared to the total soil surface. 🟢 Grow wires: When used in greenhouses, they prevent them from collapsing under the influence of strong winds. Not to mention, they can support fruit-bearing trees by resisting wind pressure. By paying attention to the potential threats strong winds can cause to crops, we can ensure higher crop quality and yield. #winds #cropquality #agriculture #farming #farmers
