Driving clean energy technologies and sustainability in motorsport. 🏎️ 🏁 💪 Together with Ligier Automotive, we have taken our hydrogen-powered demonstrator vehicle to the next level: In recent months, intensive tests have been carried out to test the engine and the entire vehicle for robustness and endurance performance and to further optimize the drive concept. The Ligier JS2 RH2 will participate in the world premiere demo lap for hydrogen-powered racing cars on June 15, 2024, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France, showcasing that motorsport is a powerful research lab for developing and testing new technologies. 🏎️ During the development process of the Ligier JS2 RH2, Bosch Engineering GmbH handled the vehicle's overall design and implemented the development of the engine and tank concept, as well as a comprehensive multi-stage hydrogen safety system. Overcoming personal limits: Nibin Mathew is an internationally respected tennis player – and blind from birth. He discovered his passion for tennis in 2019 when attended a tennis camp for blind players. "Today, I'm feared by my competitors," Nibin says with a laugh. 🎾 On the court, the players take their places, guided by lines made of duct tape on the ground that they can feel through the soles of their shoes. The foam tennis ball, which makes a rattling sound as it moves, also provides orientation. When he's not on the court, Nibin works as a digital accessibility expert at Bosch Global Software Technologies in India. A father figure on the pitch: Cameroon native Etienne Nguefack, who works as a test engineer at Bosch in Aachen, Germany, teaches children and young people to play soccer – a passion and a mission that go well beyond athletic performance. ⚽ 👨👧👦 At first, Etienne used to take to the local pitch after work with his own children to play soccer and help them get a bit of exercise. But he started asking himself: "Why should I only help my own children?" For some time now, anyone who wants to join Etienne’s training sessions is welcome. Young people from the neighborhood head to the football pitch to play soccer, go for a run, and stay active. "It makes me happy to see that I can help the kids. Ever wondered what powers nearly every modern device? 🤔 From consumer electronics and vehicles to industrial machinery: Semiconductors are essential in powering our modern world. In high demand are those based on silicon carbide (SiC), whose power density enables greater range and more efficient recharging for electric vehicles for example. 🚘🔋 The challenge? SiC chips can only be produced in specialized wafer fabs, like our site in Reutlingen, Germany. To expand our SiC production capacities, we acquired a semiconductor facility in Roseville, U.S., in 2023. In order to set up state-of-the-art silicon carbide chip manufacturing here, we’re employing a cross-border training program for the semiconductor experts in Roseville. As part of it, engineers from the U.S. site spend several weeks at our Reutlingen location and are paired up with experienced local engineers for training. Among the 60 associates taking part, is process engineer Allison Suba. 💪 How do you empower asthma sufferers with appropriate education to manage their disease? That's the focus of this year's #WorldAsthmaDay. Some 40% of the around 262 million people affected worldwide do not have complete control over their asthma. As a chronic lung disease, asthma can cause coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and choking. Asthma is usually triggered by an overreaction of the immune system, for example, a pollen allergy. Severe asthma can have serious consequences, but even with less severe asthma, the disease carries a level of uncertainty, which can lead to increased concern and restrictions in everyday life. Asthma therapy is often not optimized because those involved lack reliable data on the progression of the disease. That's where our "Vivatmo me" comes in. As the world's first FeNO home measuring device, it allows users to monitor the degree of inflammation in their lungs. This can help them to manage their asthma better. Monitoring the inflammation conveniently at home over an extended period allows them to adjust their therapy to their actual needs quickly in consultation with their doctor. 🌊 Navigating waves up to 14 meters high: Bosch associate Gregor Wacker is turning his lifelong dream of crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a rowing boat into a reality. His journey isn't just a personal adventure but also a mission to collect donations for Primavera e.V., an aid organization founded by Bosch associates.
