06/14/2016 If you ask anyone to name an hacktivist group, the chances are high that they will say Anonymous. It is a loosely operated body of hacktivists who are spread in almost all the countries of the world. It is an internet gathering that targets organizations for a social cause.
Anonymous has grown to huge organizations from its birth on one of the dark pages on the Internet. This group is known to be illegal by the government. Anonymous has largely opposed the injustice caused by the high authorities.



Here is the list of the best hacks done by Anonymous group so far-


Project Chanology Attack-
This attack was done in the year 2008 as the Anonymous group believed that the Church Of Scientology is spreading misinformation about Scientology using the Internet. Anonymous used a technique called Google Bombing. Google bombing can bias the search result on Google by increasing the Web page rank.
This produced a misleading as the search for Scientology keyword on Google would produce deceive results. They also knocked down the Church website with distributed denial of service attack.


Operation Darknet
In October 2011, Anonymous attacked Lolita City and took down more than child pornography websites. They gained access to the Hidden Wiki, a website which contains the database of many underground websites that does illegal business. They leaked 1,589 member names of the website. Operation Darknet is focused on the websites which are not under the control of law enforcement agencies. They were praised for revealing these websites. They exposed the darker side of the internet.


Donald Trumps Website Hack
In the year 2015, Donald Trump gathered the attention of people when he said that he wanted the Muslims to be barred from entering the United States Of America. This news took attention of the Anonymous. They took down his website for more than an hour and released a video claiming the cyber attack. The video contained a message for him to think twice before speaking.


ISIS Attack
After Paris attack, the group launched operation ISIS. They vowed that the terrorist behind the attack which killed 31 people in Brussels would be severally punished. They released a video on YouTube saying that they will shut down the ISIS Twitter accounts and steal their Bitcoins. They also warned the ISIS group to stop these attacks against humanity. Since then the group has claimed to shut down many Twitter accounts that were linked to the terrorist. They were praised for this act.
So these were some of the famous attacks by the hacktivist group Anonymous. Anonymous have gained a reputation since the Project Chanology. The group has been applauded by masses and gained trust in the heart of the people. They have done many other work in the public trust. Some of the other hacks include Project WTO and Cybergate attack. From the above steps which they have taken in the favour of humanity, we can say that Not all hackers are bad.
